A short explanation of the most common SBA loan programs. Requirements and availability vary by lender and program.
The most common SBA loan. Used for working capital, equipment, real estate, and business acquisition. Loan amounts up to $5 million with repayment terms up to 10 years (25 years for real estate). Borrowers must meet SBA eligibility, credit, and repayment ability requirements, and guarantee requirements apply for qualifying owners.
For fixed assets like owner-occupied commercial real estate and large equipment. A Certified Development Company partners with a lender to provide long-term, fixed-rate financing. The borrower typically provides a down payment (equity injection) and must occupy the property being financed.
Smaller loans up to $50,000 through nonprofit intermediary lenders. Designed for startups and small businesses that need working capital, inventory, supplies, furniture, fixtures, or equipment. Requirements and availability vary by intermediary lender.
This checklist is educational and does not determine whether you qualify for an SBA loan. SBA eligibility, credit, collateral, and underwriting requirements vary by lender and program.
